Social Responsibility in the United Nations Association of Spain
The United Nations Association of Spain is adhered to the United Nations Global Compact. It is a founding member of the Global Compact in Spain since 2005.Annually, it presents its progress report which demonstrates the commitment to the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is the voluntary commitment that companies make for social, economic and environmental improvement.
The CSR wants to go beyond compliance with laws and regulations, assuming its respect and strict observance. The concept of administration and management encompasses a set of practices, strategies and business management systems which seek a new balance between economic, social and environmental dimensions.
CSR is synonymous of transparency of investors, of good governance of listed companies, codes of ethics, initiatives of social actions and cultural patronage, among other initiatives. Social organizations develop their mission, establishing at the same time communication channels with the Administration and companies.
Aware of the importance of supporting, stimulating and spreading this model of corporate organization, the United Nations Association, as a founding member of the Global Compact in Spain, began developing the Socially Responsible Territory (SRT) project, trying to implement the Global Compact goals, signed at the United Nations. The concept of SRT includes the fields of:
- Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), for the development of policies to improve companies in front of society.
- Public Administration Responsibility (PAR) within the public sector, for social cohesion and development of good practices.
- It has been in the local public sector of municipalities where UNA-Spain have focused its efforts.
Since 2004, we have worked the territorial responsibility collaborating in the self-diagnosis of the City Council administrations of Mataró, Sitges, Vic, Els Monjos, Gelida, Sant Sadurní and Vilafranca.
